YOGA MICROADVENTURE

Updated: Mar 6, 2022

19th - 20th February 2022, Lugarnica - Mosor Mountains

Mosor is a home to Mediterranean cultures with rich vegetation, all kinds of wildlife, water sources, caves and pits.

In October last year we visited Veliki Kabal, Mosor's highest peak of 1339m. This time we aimed at staying longer and planned an overnight at Lugarnica, 120 years old Mountain hut at 872 m above sea level.

Morning bus took a bus to Gornje Sitno, small village located on the southern slopes of Mosor, 21 km away from Split. Our 2 hour ascent towards Lugarnica was pleasant and with sun over our heads, we enjoyed some beautiful views to the surrounding.

We arrived to Lugarnica around 2.00PM, made a coffee and relaxed a bit.

Before sunset, we stretched our bodies, and embraced the omnipresent silence and space with an outdoor yoga practice.

Wood burning stove kept us warm when it got dark - it was definitely a central point for our evening activities. We cooked some vegetarian risotto for dinner, Sarah prepared delicious fruit salad for dessert and had a bit of chat before settling into our sleeping bags.

Mario from Mosor Mountaineering Club was staying in the hut with us and his humor as well as willingness to assist with anything we needed was just priceless.

Dormitory was our bedroom for the night and heavy blankets available in the hut came handy. Morning was foggy and milky white but this has not discouraged us from getting out and doing some morning yoga. We made it just in time before pouring rain.

Ágnes Mutarello-Barna, a great yoga teacher based on Brac Island, joined the trip and offered a beautiful energizing morning session.

Weather calmed down a bit after breakfast and so we hit the road and started our hike back to Gornje Sitno.

This weekend was not as blue as we are used to here in Dalmatia but had its own charm and magic. Our mood remained cloudless and I appreciate everyone who went out of the comfort of their homes with me to get out of the town and experience something different.

Namaste.

Following short video summarizes our two days in the mountains.
