ISLAND YOGA MICROADVENTURE

8th - 10th April 2022, Komiza - Vis Island

8th May was the departure day of the second Yoga Microadventure.

This time there were 9 of us who got on board the Split to Vis ferry to leave the town behind and spend 3 days exploring one of the furthest places off the Dalmatian mainland and enjoying yoga at some peaceful locations.

Weather forecast looked very uncertain, however, we were lucky in the end as the heavy rains walked around without much of an impact on the planned outdoor programme.

FRIDAY

Windy and rocky ferry ride to Vis.

Our weekend home, the XVII century stone house located a few meters from the beach, allowed us to enjoy coffee with glittering blue views and hear the calming sounds of the waves crashing against the shore through the night.

We left our base not long after settling in and hiked up the church of St. Blaz.

This pleasant walk offered beautiful views of Komiza and warmed us up for a sunset outdoor yoga.

Evening dinner was a group effort and Tanja with Megi had things fully under control. Delicious vegetarian risotto with broccoli, zucchini and blue cheese was yummy and well deserved after the eventful day.

SATURDAY

Saturday's morning stretch and breath work took place in front of the fireplace. Slow morning set a foundation for the rest of the day.

Abundant breakfast and 9.00AM departure up, up and up towards the highest peak on the island. We got to collect a variety of herbs along (oregano, sparoge, rosemary...) which later served for meals preparation.

Views on the top were rewarding and well worth the effort. Church of St. Duh as a resting place before descend.

Coming back home pretty tired and hungry, we gathered in the kitchen, put on some music that kept us going and engaged in lunch preparation. Do you ask how we treated ourselves after such a full-on morning? Falafel with homemade tahini, quinoa with veggies and feta cheese and...

Look at that! Megi knows a lot about local plants and herbs and it was enriching to learn about how to use them in the kitchen. This super fresh salad consists of everything collected through the morning hike.

And yes, we did yoga in the evening! Practice helped us to loosen up and relax the muscles after the hike. Focus on leg stretches, long exhales as well as shavasana.

We did not call it a day yet!

Shower and let's experience the "nightlife" of Komiza town. The only operating konoba (local restaurant) welcomed us with open arms and we took joy in seafood and cheered with a glass of local house wine.

SUNDAY

Morning bura (northern wind) has not discouraged us from outdoor yoga practice as the sun rays were calling and difficult to resist.

Final meditation and expressing thanks to the little paradise we got to enjoy for a few days.

Freshly baked focaccia, homegrown eggs with sparoge and onion flowers - culinary experience that melts in your mouth. The art of cooking by Megi.

One more coffee before the bus transfer back to the Vis town.

Two hours until the ferry departs and returns us to reality? Time for ice cream and walk up the Fort of St. George.

Unordinary stay at a special place with a bunch of really cool girls.

It was a blast. Namaste.

This trip was donations based and thanks to all participants we managed to raise 300 EUR. Full amount was donated to young family in Mariupol who suffer of loss in the current Russia-Ukraine conflict and whose home was destroyed.
